Head of Shelter Program, Canadian Red Cross, Haiti 2010-11
As Head of Shelter Program for the Canadian Red Cross (CRC) in Haiti in 2010-11, Thomas was responsible for managing the design, development and implementation of the Shelter Program for 7500 earthquake affected families in Jacmel and Lèogane. In a post-earthquake vacuum of logistical and material resources, Thomas developed the Shelter Program within and with the CRC team. This included a unique technical design for mass production based on Haitian archetypal shelter form, manufacture in Canada, construction crew Lead training and field office development. The full program took just over 2 1/2 years to complete and resettled over 37,000 beneficiaries.
